Tritium, an Australian manufacturer of charging stations for electric vehicles (e-vehicles), set up fast charging stations throughout Europe as part of the IONITY corporate cooperation — a joint venture between the automobile manufacturers BMW, Daimler, Ford, VW, Audi, and Porsche. For this purpose, Tritium received the order to set up 100 charging parks throughout Germany, France, Great Britain, and Sweden among others. The international availability and quality of Rittal products were decisive for the order. The Rittal solution is used, among other things, to protect the sensitive electrical components of the charging stations from environmental influences.
“When we started to produce for an order from IONITY, we needed a supplier for control cabinets. One of the most important criteria was quick availability, as we also wanted to deliver our large order quickly. The other decisive point was the service and availability of Rittal. That convinced us.” - Da vid Finn, Tritium Founder and CEO
Tritium has grown from a start-up to one of the fastest growing companies in Australia. Due to the initially low number of e-vehicles in Australia, the company decided to expand to Europe and support the faster development of e-mobility there. Under the guiding principle "energy freedom", Tritium pursued the goal of getting electricity into the car at any time without problems and at low cost, even from home if desired and without having to change behavior. This created the prerequisites for making electromobility accessible to the broad mass market and making it more attractive overall. Confidence in electromobility increases with the number and capacity of charging stations, because this is the only way to guarantee the desired range.
The now planned fast charging stations are an important milestone on the way to "unrestricted charging freedom" in public. The Rittal enclosures that were specially developed for this application proved themselves in the demanding conditions of outdoor use and offered maximum flexibility due to the variety of accessories. These factors contributed to the success of the project.
Through the integration into the Tritium IONITY project, Rittal is consolidating its expertise in the field of e-mobility and is playing a key role in promoting the sale of electric vehicles by expanding the charging infrastructure - in the spirit of "energy freedom".
